Kids..

Dh is in the kitchen cleaning up and I am sitting on the couch resting. All of a sudden I hear "do not take water out of the kitty's dish to clean the floor"

File that under things I never thought we would say when we had kids.
Sorry I've been MIA for awhile, but this morning sickness stuff is kicking my butt! It has been rough trying to keep up with the boys and all the stuff around the house. Luckily Jeremy is awesome and has been picking up the slack as much as his schedule allows.

Because of this crudiness not much has been happening here. I did finish my grandma's mother's day project. Just have to get it matted. I'm hoping to do that tomorrow so maybe I'll have pics soon. I also did some retail therapy for shoes and spent way too much. Luckily I should be all set for summer and now I can throw out some of those nasty ones I've had for awhile.

My pregnancy baking thing is starting to kick in so the kids and I are making ricotta cheese cookies today. They are so yummy and great because I don't have to worry about Cooper eating them. If you decide to give them a try just know that they make a ton of cookies. Around 6 doz normal sized or about 7-8 doz smaller sized ones. We'll keep some here and then ship the rest off with Jeremy to work.

Ricotta Cheese Cookies

Ingredients:
1 C soft butter
2 C sugar
3 eggs
1 15 oz Ricotta cheese
2 tsp vanilla
4 C flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda

Frosting:
1/4 C butter
½ tsp vanilla
3-4 C confectioners’ sugar
3-4 Tbsp milk

Directions:
* Preheat oven to 350₀. Mix all cookie ingredients together. Drop by teaspoon full on cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 min until just brown around the edges.
* Mix frosting ingredients together and frost when cookies are cooled.

Life here has been pretty much confined to the couch the past few days. Morning sickness is kicking my butt. I shouldn't be surprised since it has with my last two pregnancies too, but you always forget about the cruddy parts.

All this down time does have its advantages. I have a few ideas for a new purse I want to make. Just have to figure out all the logistics of it. I have also been in search for a pattern to make my SIL and BIL a quilt for Christmas. There is also a cross stitch pattern I want to finish for my grandma for Mother's Day. Luckily all I have left is the backstitching so it should get done. Once I am finally feeling normal again I plan on spending a lot of time in front of my sewing machine before I get too big.

Not much else is going on. I did make an awesome cheesecake for hubby's birthday. The only problem I had is the dang thing puffed up and spilled over in my oven. Luckily he doesn't care about looks, but it was UGLY, but really yummy. Even to my finicky, sick tummy.

Hopefully I will have some crafting to share soon.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, but I was away celebrating my mom's birthday.

I'm back now and can finally post about the news I hinted at during my last post.

I found out last week that we are expecting baby #3. I am due sometime in early December. I'm excited, though a little nervous. I've been pretty cruddy feeling so far which isn't abnormal for me.

Sadly this means my crafting will be ignored until I am back on my feet and feeling "normal" again. I do have a few small projects I will be working on, but sitting at my sewing machine is out for awhile. On the up side this gives me more time to work on new designs and ideas.

My posting will probably be sporadic for the next few weeks as I survive the morning sickness. I will be back on a regular basis once things get all settled out.

Things have been super crazy around here. I was hoping for a nice relaxing weekend and some good family time. Instead I got two cranky kids, a sick mom, and a house that looks like a tornado went through it.

Cody has double ear infection yet again. Friday he said his ear hurt, but really didn't complain about it too much. He slept a lot and we figured he was just over tired. Saturday he was a little whiny, but didn't complain about pain or anything. Sunday he was supposed to go to a birthday party. Hubby took him in and about 10 minutes later came back out with him. There were these loud air guns and it freaked him out. He came home and slept the rest of the day. That night he had a fever and was really restless. We took him in on Monday and as suspected he has double ear infections. The worst part is the kid HATES taking medicine. I mean like kick, scream, throw himself on the ground, pretend to throw up, the whole nine yards. It sucks! The good part is he is feeling better and was able to go to school today.

There are a few other things going on, but can't discuss them just yet. Hopefully in a week or so.

I haven't had time to do much crafting. I did sew a few rows on my latest quilt block, but that is it. I am also trying to find a pattern for a purse that I can customize. I am so sick of just throwing stuff in my purse. I want one I can make pockets for my cell, Cooper's EPI pen, my keys, etc. We'll see if I come up with something.

I'm not sure when I'll be back to update, but I promise I'll be back.

Finally healthy

Finally everyone in this house is healthy. The kids still have a little cough, but it is getting better. I am so done with colds and crud. Spring has to get here soon!

I've been working away on the kaleidoscope windows quilt.

This is what 900+ 1.5" squares looks like. It is an insane amount of cutting. I now know why I usually work with big squares.

Here is one block laid out. I really like how the colors go together. I was worried that it would be too bright, but the red and yellow are more muted so it balances out. I learned that the sewing is going to definitely be time consuming. Matching all those little seams is a challenge. And wow does it shrink up a lot. I knew it would lose a lot, but I was surprised by how much!

I get my hair cut tomorrow and I am so excited. I've been putting in a ponytail everyday because it is so annoying. I have an idea of how I want it cut, but I am going to let the stylist have her say.

Other than that Jeremy has the weekend off and we have no plans. That is a first. Cody might have a birthday party to go to Sunday, but other than that we are free. Sadly we will probably spend the weekend cleaning. YUCK!

Soo tired...

I am so tired. Cooper is sick and I've been up with him since around 3. He just couldn't get comfortable and we kept going from his room, to my room, to the living and then repeating the cycle. Thankfully he seems to be feeling better today so maybe we'll get some sleep tonight.

I am feeling the need for some serious chocolate today. I think I will make some brownies. They are way better than the boxed kind and take less time to make. YUM!

Best Brownies
Ingredients:
½ C butter, cut up
4 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
2 oz semisweet baking chocolate
1 ½ C sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
3 eggs
1 C flour
Salt

Directions:
* Preheat oven to 350₀
* Grease 9X9 (or 8X8) baking pan, line with foil, grease foil making sure foil extends over edges
* In large saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over medium low heat, stirring often
* Remove from heat and add sugar and vanilla
* Push batter off to side and add eggs. Lightly beat before adding to batter
* Stir in flour and salt
* Spread batter in pan
* Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side comes out clean

The trick to these is taking them out of the pan immediately and using a pizza cutter to slice them. It works way better than a knife!
